Job description

Mentions "vibe coding" familiarity as a preferred skill; role focuses on requirements gathering, PRDs, and fast delivery where vibe coding awareness is useful.

About the Role

Associate Product Manager joining Neighborly Software to support planning, execution, and optimization of SaaS products that administer government and community assistance programs. This hands-on, junior role focuses on writing engineering-ready tickets, scoping requirements, coordinating cross-functional delivery, and using customer insights to inform product decisions.

Role

Associate Product Manager (junior/generalist) supporting product planning, execution, and optimization for Neighborly Software’s cloud-based SaaS platform used for government and community assistance programs. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role centered on requirements scoping, ticket writing, backlog management, and cross-functional coordination to keep delivery on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Break down features and initiatives into clear, actionable requirements in partnership with other Product Managers.
  • Coordinate cross-functional product initiatives and new product development; evaluate project status, identify risks, and recommend solutions.
  • Assess customer insights, feedback, market intelligence, and operational information to recommend improvements.
  • Write detailed, engineering-ready tickets and user stories in JIRA, including acceptance criteria, edge cases, and supporting context.
  • Translate approved designs into implementation-ready specs and flag gaps before handoff to engineering.
  • Maintain and groom the backlog alongside the Senior PM: prioritize, tag, and keep tickets current as scope evolves.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and stand-ups; help unblock engineering by answering clarifying questions quickly.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, QA, and customer-facing teams to align requirements and delivery.
  • Support triage of customer-reported issues and feature requests and document them for the product team.
  • Conduct market, customer, and competitive analysis to inform product and portfolio decisions.
  • Track progress against sprint and release goals and document decisions, workflows, and product changes.
  • Use AI tools (e.g., Claude) to accelerate documentation, ticket drafting, and research and explore opportunities to integrate AI into workflows.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and ~2 years of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2+ years in product management, business analysis, or a related role; SaaS experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong written communication; able to convert vague asks into well-structured tickets.
  • Comfortable working in JIRA and Confluence or quickly learning similar tools.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT for research and drafting.
  • Detail-oriented with a bias for digging into how things should work; able to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Customer-focused, curious, coachable, and able to navigate complex situations with strategic planning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to SaaS products or cloud-based platforms.
  • Prior product team experience and familiarity with PRDs, requirements gathering, PDLC, and "vibe coding".
  • Basic familiarity with UX/design principles and reviewing Figma files.
  • Familiarity with data tools such as SQL or Excel.
  • Interest or experience in government, nonprofit, or public-sector technology and familiarity with federal funding, grants management, disaster recovery, or housing programs is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer; ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
Location
  • Headquartered in Atlanta, GA (role location not explicitly specified).
  • Company-paid short-term disability and life insurance
  • 401(k) contributions with generous employer match and immediate vesting
