Position: Associate Product Engineer

Department: Operations

Work Location: New York, NY, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

What you will be doing:

The Operations Associate Product Engineer is tasked with supporting lifecycle management and continuous improvement activities for currently produced products. This includes lab testing of product samples, prototyping, maintaining CAD & documentation, developing/improving processes, and collaborating with manufacturing partners.

  • Execute test plans to prove design functionality, durability, manufacturability, and reliability of parts and assemblies
  • Create prototypes to validate changes
  • Design experiments to test finished products and individual components
  • Design and build test apparatuses to suit specific needs
  • Record, file, share, and present test results
  • Communicate with and guide international manufacturing partners
  • Collaborate with project managers, quality team, manufacturing engineers, and product teams to ensure product and project goals are met

  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly through sketches and email (including to others where English is their 2nd language).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or relevant industry.
  • Experience with CAD, prototyping, and 3D printing.
  • MS Suite experience: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel internationally/domestically (up to 10%).
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SolidWorks or Creo.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in a professional product development or engineering environment.
  • Experience with Asian and North American manufacturing and sourcing
  • Experience working in the consumer goods realm.
  • Previous exposure to product manufacturing: plastic injection, sheet metal work, silicone molding, and die-casting.
  • Molded part design.

Compensation: In New York City, the standard base pay range for this role is $67,033 - $100,549 annually. This base pay range is specific to New York City and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance.
