Job Description

The Associate Product Development Engineer supports product development efforts within Cricut’s Consumables segment. This role focuses on executing product tests, analyzing data, and collaborating across functions to help bring innovative materials to market. The Associate Engineer will work closely with the Global R&D and Product Management teams to enhance product quality, optimize costs, and improve manufacturing processes. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global environment.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Product Development Support (50%) – Assist in developing new materials and ongoing support of existing consumables by executing tests, collecting data, and supporting the stage gate process. Work with engineers and R&D Manager to refine product concepts and validate performance.
  2. Project Collaboration (30%) – Contribute to cross-functional project teams to support cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain optimization efforts. Assist in concept assessments and competitive research.
  3. Technical Research & Testing (15%) – Conduct material and performance testing, UX testing with Cricut machines and accessories, execute test methods, and analyze data to support product decisions.
  4. Professional Development & Learning (5%) – Stay up to date on industry trends, Cricut’s product ecosystem, and best practices in materials and manufacturing. Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Please note:

  • This position is global, with team members in various regions, including Asia. Meetings may be scheduled to accommodate multiple time zones, including evening meetings 1-3 times per week. Work schedules are flexible but require self-management and approval from management.
  • Work involves high collaboration and communication across teams.
  • Comfort working with Cricut machines and materials is required.
  • Travel up to 10%, including possible trips to Asia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Material Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in product development, testing, or manufacturing (internships or co-op experience accepted).
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow SOPs and industry standards.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with product lifecycle management tools (e.g., Arena, Oracle) is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
