The Associate Product Application Engineer/Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Charlotte, NC, and is a member of a team responsible for supporting the effective use and performance of HEW products in the field. This role involves providing technical guidance to customers, contractors, and internal teams on product applications and installation best practices. The Specialist is expected to provide technical support by: 1) Responding to external and internal customers’ product application questions, 2) Assisting R&D and Innovation teams with product development projects, and 3) Collaborating with Marketing and Brand Team members to ensure our products are represented accurately in customer-facing media. The team also creates technical documents addressing specific product applications, assists in the management of technical collateral on HEW websites, creates and updates AutoCAD and SketchUp installation details, and works with team members to solve unique customer project needs.
An engineering, construction management, wood products, or related Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university; has well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills; is passionate about solving problems and helping customers; enjoys working in groups but also individually; is a self-starter with a focus on quality, customer service, and attention to detail; and enjoys supporting and facilitating the success of others. Must have excellent communication abilities, including clear verbal and written communication, active listening, and the capacity to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences. Is proficient with standard office software and has the ability to learn product-specific tools and systems. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the design or application of engineered wood products in light-frame residential and commercial wood construction.
