Job summary

Merck & Co., Rahway, NJ, is seeking an Early Clinical Scientist to provide operational and scientific leadership for the design, planning, and execution of early-phase vaccine trials. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive data quality for proof-of-concept studies.

The role emphasizes risk management, study planning, and mentorship of junior staff, with a focus on rapid, high-quality data delivery and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years Phase 1 clinical trial experience or at least 8 years Phase 2-3 clinical trial experience.
• Experience developing, implementing, and managing vaccine clinical programs.
• Ability to think creatively and navigate ambiguity to drive results.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee early-stage clinical trials and programs with cross-functional teams.
• Ensure execution excellence and compliance with GCP/ICH and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to SOPs and process improvements.
