We are offering the position of Associate Principal Mechanical Engineer in our Building Environments Group in Los Angeles, California.

Role Overview

The Associate Principal Mechanical Engineer will provide technical expertise and leadership, working closely with clients, architects, and BuroHappold engineers within a skilled design team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for project teams, driving successful outcomes and ensuring project objectives are delivered.
• Lead the design and technical specifications of mechanical systems, ensuring high‑quality output.
• Manage project resources, client relationships, and deliver high‑quality solutions.
• Guide graduates and other junior engineers through their professional development.
• Communicate directly with clients and maintain client relationships.
• Actively contribute ideas and innovative solutions across various projects.
• Direct multiple projects across the group, ensuring successful implementation of engineering solutions while ensuring financial success.
• Ensure practices, policies, strategy, and services represent the client’s best interests and comply with current legislation and building codes.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of extensive experience in Mechanical Engineering design within the building services and construction industry.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior MEP role within an architectural engineering consultancy.
• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree.
• P.E., professional engineer license.
• LEED AP accredited (preferred).
• Experience using Revit and computational analysis tools.
• Ideal sector experience: Aviation/Transportation, Cultural Projects, Labs, Commercial, and Higher Education.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and deadlines while ensuring client satisfaction.
