Job summary

PepsiCo in Plano, TX seeks a R&D leader to drive screening, testing, development and validation of new dehydration processing technologies in baking & drying. The position reports to the R&D Baked Process Capabilities Sr. Manager and involves travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS or PhD in Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of R&D experience in food processing with dehydration techniques.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence decisions across stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

  • Lead scoping, screening, development, optimization and scale-up of new dehydration technologies in baking and drying.
  • Demonstrate technical skills by using engineering and scientific methods to solve key process and product problems.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams, vendors and contractors to advance technology and product pipelines.
  • Translate complex technical challenges into actionable work plans using digital tools.
  • Apply governance from feasibility to commercialization for process technologies.
  • Provide technical risk assessment and mitigation plans for process development.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets and communicate progress to leadership.

Overview

The PepsiCo Global Foods R&D Transform Process Capabilities team enables PepsiCo’s commitment to meet consumer needs for a spectrum of foods across the globe. This department of innovative technical professionals lead breakthrough research & development programs that unlocks technology to drive innovation, productivity, sustainability and global brand stewardship to grow our multi-billion-dollar foods category.


This position will lead screening, testing, development and validation of new processing technologies in Baking & Drying. This person will be a thought leader in advancing processing technology, tools, and capabilities to build future looking portfolio of capabilities for baking & drying.


This role is based in Plano, TX and reports to the R&D Baked Process Capabilities Sr. Manager.


Responsibilities


  • Lead key scoping, screening, development, optimization and scale up new dehydration technologies in baking and drying for processing of foods.


  • Demonstrate strong technical skills by utilizing engineering and scientific methods to solve key process and product problems.


  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams in R&D, external vendors and contractors to overcome hurdles and develop future technology/product pipeline that deliver against business priorities.


  • Translate complex technical challenges into appropriate work plan leveraging digital tools to enable faster and better innovation.


  • Apply Technical & Business Governance processes effectively from feasibility through scale-up/post-launch by leading the identification, assessment, validation and commercialization of process technologies


  • Provide technical risk assessment and mitigation plans related to process development.


  • Manage project timelines, budget and provide timely communication to leadership.



Compensation and Benefits:



  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $93,500 - $156,450.

  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary.

  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 10% of annual salary paid out annually.

  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications


  • Education/Certifications: BS, MS or PhD. Degree in Engineering.

  • Work Experience: 3 - 5 years of R&D experience with food processing specifically with various dehydration techniques.

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across various stakeholder groups and influence decisions with technical insights.

  • Proven self-leadership, technical curiosity with strong sense of engagement that fosters diversity, inclusion and sense of belonging within the organization.

  • Broad experience in modeling and simulation including computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) with fundamental knowledge of electromagnetic fields and Multiphysics is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% (ebbs and flows)
