Job summary

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) is seeking a data analytics engineer to expand our analytics capabilities and make data accessible to analysts organization-wide. You will help design and build our internal analytics data warehouse and the associated ETL processes, becoming the expert on OCC datasets and supporting teams in deriving insights.

You will design cloud analytics infrastructure and data models, while ensuring security and governance standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in data science, analytics, or related with 2 years of data-analyst experience.
• Experience implementing IaC for AWS and building SQL ETL pipelines.
• Proficient in DevOps practices, containerization (Docker) and CI tooling (Jenkins, Artifactory).
• Ability to design data models and ensure governance and security standards.

• Develop batch data ingestion and SQL ETL pipelines; tune performance and storage.
• Collaborate with DBAs on access controls and governance; create documentation and tests.
• Use Terraform, Ansible, Python, and CI/CD to deliver reliable analytics solutions.
• Promote self-service data literacy and provide training resources.

Duties

Expand OCC’s analytics capabilities by making data accessible and usable to analysts throughout the organization. Act as an active contributor to the design and build of our internal analytics data warehouse and the maintenance of the supporting extract, load, and transform processes. Become an expert on OCC’s data sets and support teams across the organization in successfully harnessing this data. Drive the team responsible for gathering requirements and designing solutions that address the problem at hand while also anticipating yet-to-be-asked analytical questions, as well as collaborating with team members in defining and owning processes for developing and maintaining our analytics platform to meet the company’s security and IT standards. Design and implement cloud data warehouse infrastructure for internal facing analytics in collaboration with OCC’s Data Platform and other teams. Develop a batch process data ingestion framework for extraction from systems and loading to target location(s). Build data models to ensure information is available in our analytics warehouse for downstream uses, such as analysis and dashboard development. Maintain performance requirements of our analytics warehouse by tuning warehouse optimizations and storage processes. Collaborate with DBAs to design access controls around our analytics warehouse to meet business and internal governance needs. Create documentation and testing to ensure data is accurate and easily understandable. Use IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible to provision AWS cloud hardware and software, enabling teams to perform model development and run backtesting. Leverage Python frameworks, data modeling, shell programming and configuration as code to build SQL ETL (Extract Transform Load) pipelines to serve accurate business-oriented datasets to business users. Implement DevOps practices like containerizing app code with Docker and Continuous Integration pipelines with tools like Jenkins and JFrog Artifactory to ensure high quality code. Integrate services securely with HashiCorp Vault to manage secrets, and orchestrate data intensive applications with orchestrators like Automic UC4 and Apache Airflow. Promote self-service capabilities and data literacy for business users leveraging the platform through development of training presentations and resources. Discover and share best practices for data and analytics engineering with members of the team. Invest in your continued learning on data and analytics engineering best practices and evaluate them for fit in improving maintainability and reliability of analytics infrastructure. Assist analysts in solving their analytics questions/challenges. Up to 40% telecommuting permitted.
