Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie in McKinney, TX is seeking a Press Operator to operate a progressive stamping press to meet safety, quality, efficiency, LEAN and production goals. This role is full-time and non-exempt, based in McKinney, Texas.

Weekend shifts are Fri-Sun 6:00AM to 6:30PM with a $2.50 per hour shift differential. Responsibilities include quality inspections per drawings, packaging finished products, material handling, and assisting with press set-ups and changeovers while communicating issues

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 month of related experience and/or training, or equivalent education and training.
• Safety-focused with safe work practices and ability to operate a pallet jack.
• Ability to read and follow instructions and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate presses to support department and company goals (80%).
• Perform quality inspections per drawings and maintain a clean work environment.
• Count, package, and palletize finished product per work orders.
• Handle materials, assist with press set-ups and changeovers, coordinate with leadership on issues.

YOU

As a Press Operator you will be responsible for operating a progressive stamping press in such a manner as to achieve safety, quality, efficiency, LEAN and production goals. That's year one for you.

Weekend Shift Hours are Fri - Sun 6:00AM to 6:30PM. You will receive a $2.50 shift differential for every hour worked

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Operate any and all presses as needed to support department and company goals. (80%)

Perform quality inspections to drawings and specifications per procedures and maintain a clean work environment. Perform work using air or electric powered hand tools and make adjustments to equipment as necessary. Count, package and palletize finished product in accordance with work orders. Material handling of cartons, labels, coils of steel, pallets and packaging tape. Assist other personnel with press set-ups and changeovers. Communicate with department leadership regarding issues and improvements. (20%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
• One month of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training
• Safety: Able to consistently prioritize safety by demonstrating safe work practices and by promoting a safe work environment. Able to safely operate manual pallet jack.
• Attendance: Able to consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance.
• Mathematical reasoning: Able to apply basic Algebra and Geometry concepts. Able to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal equivalents.
• Reading comprehension: Able to read and write simple correspondence and able to follow instructions.
• Analysis/reasoning: Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Communication: Able to communicate one-on-one and in small group settings.
• Measurements: Able to read a tape measure to 1/32" tolerance, to use combination squares to measure angles to +/- 1 degree and ability to use and read a micrometer.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in McKinney, TX.

PAY

$19.00 / hour

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.
