Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, based in Menlo Park, CA, seeks an Associate Engineer for the Precision Timing Department to develop and maintain state-of-the-art timing and synchronization systems in support of LCLS experiments.

You will collaborate with operations, controls, laser, and experimental teams, diagnose issues, plan installations, and contribute to reliability improvements and documentation to ensure operational readiness of critical timing infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of experience.
  • Test, verification, integration, and troubleshooting of RF systems.
  • PCB design, layout, manufacturing, and vendor coordination.
  • Experience with data analysis using Python/MATLAB, automation, and prototypes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain high-stability timing systems and RF diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with operations, controls, laser, and experimental staff.
  • Diagnose, modify, repair, and troubleshoot timing systems and diagnostics.
  • Plan, install, integrate, and accept timing system hardware and infrastructure.
  • Prepare drawings, BOMs, procedures, and documentation; manage changes.
  • Contribute to projects to improve timing system capability and readiness.
  • Provide on-call support, maintenance, inventory, and spares planning.
