The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

The Associate, Portfolio Management – Deliver will play a critical role in the successful planning and execution of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This position sits within the Project Management team as part of the central Planning & Programs department, which serves as an organizational hub to drive integrated planning, cross-functional coordination, and project tracking.

This is a fast-paced, collaborative role best suited for someone who enjoys connecting dots, solving problems, and supporting project execution across diverse teams. The Associate will directly support the Portfolio Lead and help ensure that project status, risks, and milestones are tracked, analyzed, and communicated effectively.

The role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in large-scale event planning, with visibility into multiple functional areas across Games Logistics & Services, Sport & Games Delivery, and Technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Maintain and analyze portfolio data using Smartsheet and other tools to monitor progress against master schedules, milestones, and RADIO logs (Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions, Opportunities).
  • Develop Reports: Collect and synthesize large sets of quantitative and qualitative data into actionable reports for senior leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Support Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with project leads across departments to align timelines, deliverables, and priorities.
  • Foster a Project Management Community: Build strong working relationships with project managers, enabling streamlined communication and consistent status tracking.
  • Optimize Processes: Identify and propose improvements to portfolio and project management processes to increase efficiency and visibility.
  • Support Governance & Forums: Assist with documentation and facilitation of portfolio meetings, working groups, and planning forums.
Background & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Event Management, Sports Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 0–3 years of experience in project coordination, project management, or administrative support, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Interest in project management and event operations.
  • Excellent data analysis, presentation preparation skills, and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Working knowledge of project management tools (SmartSheet experience is a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for tracking tasks and preparing reports.
  • Passion for sports, large-scale events, or the Olympic and Paralympic movement is a bonus!

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to work On-site in an office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000-$75,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
