The Associate Physician (Board Eligible) reports directly to the clinical Vice Chair and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. The role involves collaboration with faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, nursing, and ancillary personnel to provide patient care.
Physicians are expected to work collegially, combining clinical duties with teaching residents, students, and nurse anesthetists. A thorough understanding of physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and procedural disruptions of homeostasis is essential for safe practice. MSP providers must understand quality care standards set by the ASA and UCDH to administer anesthesia across various procedures and locations.
