Job Summary

The Associate Physician (Board Eligible) reports directly to the clinical Vice Chair and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. The role involves collaboration with faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, nursing, and ancillary personnel to provide patient care.

Physicians are expected to work collegially, combining clinical duties with teaching residents, students, and nurse anesthetists. A thorough understanding of physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and procedural disruptions of homeostasis is essential for safe practice. MSP providers must understand quality care standards set by the ASA and UCDH to administer anesthesia across various procedures and locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD/DO
• Experience as an anesthesiologist
• 50 hours of CME in the last two years
• DEA license or ability to obtain
• Valid California Medical License
• American Board of Anesthesiology Eligible
• Teaching skills for residents and students
• Physical and mental ability to perform duties
• Ability to communicate and provide feedback

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience documenting in EMR; successful completion of UCDHS EMR training

Offering comprehensive training, patient care, research, and education. The department has 90 faculty, 15 MDs, 32 associated faculty, 58 residents, 10 fellows, 65 nurse anesthetists, and 35 staff, serving multiple locations with over 48,000 anesthetics annually.

• Salary Range: $9,950 to $22,916.67/month
• Position: 3 openings, Contract, 100% time, On-site
