Organization Overview

Portfolio Project Management is a diverse and engaged group of drug development experts purposefully leading and managing projects and the portfolio to deliver needed medicines for patients. The Associate, Sr. Associate, & Manager (P1-3) Pharma Project Management (PPM) provides strategic and operational drug development leadership across the Research and Development portfolio, integrating drug development across all functions and translating strategy into execution to deliver medicines to patients.

Responsibilities: Facilitate and Support Asset Strategy and Delivery through Project Management Tools and Processes.

Scope Management

  • Support the development of the asset strategy using quality decision making principles) and ensure alignment and integration of strategy with the approved scope (indications, etc.).
  • Proactively lead scope discussions through the Change Management Process. Facilitate the development of a comprehensive global integrated development plan outlining the molecule’s strategy and laying the groundwork for operational objectives.


Timeline Management

  • Facilitate the creation and execution of integrated development project plan and delivery of project timelines.
  • Hold functions accountable for achievement of key project results in collaboration with the integrated development project plan and in compliance with corporate quality standards.
  • Cost Management: Drive development and optimization of a global integrated development project budget while maintaining collaboration with functional representatives and leadership.
  • Effectively use Portfolio Management Enablement & Transformation (PMET) processes and tools.


Communication Management

  • Develop and implement a team communication plan with asset strategy driving accurate and communication of key project changes to the appropriate team members.
  • Information and Access Management:
  • Provide quality content using project management tools and ensure team members have appropriate access to information.


Risk Management

  • Monitor and prioritize risk with the team and communicate status of risks to leadership as appropriate; propose strategies to minimize risks and implement contingency plans when necessary.


Leadership

  • Demonstrate the Team Lilly behaviors of Include, Innovate, Accelerate, and Deliver to influence without authority and enable team effectiveness using judgement-based decision making.
  • Contribute to the development of others by being an active source of coaching and feedback.
  • Application/Improvement of Processes (Shared Learning)
  • Identify and seek possibilities to gather and share insights across different functions. Engage in retrospective project and process review meetings (i.e., after-action reviews) to identify issues and strengths and facilitate knowledge retention.
  • Highlight and propose areas for ongoing process improvement to the team and function: suggest methods to reduce drug development cycle times and costs.
  • Partner with Project Management Strategy and Capabilities (PMSC) to identify, share, and incorporate standard methodologies into future iterations of processes, tools, training, or guidance.


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferably in a health-related, scientific, or engineering field with at least 3 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, drug development or project management OR MS/MBA/PharmD or PhD with no experience required.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Higher degrees or certifications (e.g. MS., MBA, Masters in Project Management or PMP).

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$63,000 - $140,800

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
