Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a PCB Layout CAD specialist to create, manage, and maintain library databases for electronic parts used in PCB designs.

You will work with Siemens Xpedition and Cadence Allegro, ensuring designs meet manufacturing and Qualcomm guidelines across multiple business units. You'll collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams, translate schematics and specifications into accurate PCB layouts, and support diverse projects from R&D to automotive and data center

• Maintain technical coordination with engineering leads; resolve design issues quickly and ensure processes are followed.

Role / Skills / Experience

The successful candidate will operate as a member of the specialized PCB Layout CAD team and will be responsible for creating, managing and maintaining the library data bases across Siemens XPedition and Cadence Allegro of electronic parts used to design and document PCB designs. These will conform and stand up to manufacturing and industry standards and Qualcomm design guidelines. Working in close coordination with electrical and mechanical design teams from supplied schematics and electrical specifications that helps develop PCB layouts that meet all project goals and requirements for a variety of new designs across multiple business units (R&D, Data Center, Mobile, Compute, IOT, Infrastructure, Automotive, Test Equipment).

The responsibilities of this role include:

• Learn and develop expertise with the CAD software tools utilized at Qualcomm:
  • Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition
  • Cadence Allegro
  • Downstream Technologies Blueprint - To create and release documentation for PWB Fabrication and Assembly drawings.
• Effectively communicate with project peers and engineering personnel via e-mail, Teams meetings, including regular status reports and illustrative presentation slides.
• Understand project goals and individual contribution toward those goals.
• Understand the requirements of each component and read electronic specification s to help create library data bases accurately.
• Maintain technical coordination with Engineering and leads. Resolve design issues quickly and ensure all processes are followed.

Minimum Requirements

• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical constraint drawings.
• Basic understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) requirements and electrical specifications.
• Ability to read specifications and learn quickly on the job.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and work experience with:
  • CAD Tools used to design PWB’s (Xpedition, Allegro, PADS, Altium, other).
  • Basic understanding of electronic components and digital and analog circuit along with component placement and routing strategies.

Education Requirements

High School diploma and preferred Associates Degree in a Technical Field, Electronics preferred but not needed.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$30.75 - $46.15

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
