Optum has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed orientedAssociate Patient Care Coordinatorto join our team. Associate Patient Care Coordinatoris responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday a 37.5-hour work week, between the hours of 7:15 am to 5:30 pm. (one to two late nights to 8:00 pm per week) Occasional Saturday hours from 8:00am to noon. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greets patients, family members and guests with a friendly smile
• Assists patients with signing in and completing registration
• Enters and scans patient's demographic and insurance information into Epic
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefit information; informs patients of insurance benefits
• Collects co-payments and patient balances
• Scheduling appointments and procedures in an organized and efficient manner
• Answers incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; directs calls and takes messages
• Follow the Payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
• Ability to maintain a work queue list- complete any pending actions ie referrals, scheduling appointments
• Ability to maintain the in-basket messaging and work the daily DARs
• Check In and Check Out Patients
• Assists physician and clinical staff by coordinating follow up care for patients; schedules referralappointments for patients and obtains authorization for diagnostic testing
• Sends patient records to primary care physician
• Assists with other tasks as assigned
• Handle resolution/inquiries from members and/or clinical team
• Assist with onboarding new employees
• Responsible managing daily schedule
• Responsible for EPIC superuser status
• Ability to support all staff and leadership in their roles
• Ability to de-escalate and resolve patient complaints
• Provide guidance / consultation to other team members
• Educate the team on the continuum of integrated care
• Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1+ years of customer service experience or healthcare related experience
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)
• Ability to cover other offices if needed
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include late night until 8:00 pm

Preferred Qualifications:

• Epic experience
• Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• 1 plus year of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records

• Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability
• Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
