Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to support primary care operations in Edinburg, TX. The role handles patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and payment collection to ensure smooth clinic flow.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma/GED, strong customer service skills, and experience with Microsoft Office. Bilingual abilities are preferred to assist a diverse patient population.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service experience with strong communication skills (in person and by phone).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Preferred: 1+ years in a medical office/healthcare setting with data entry, EMR experience, and knowledge of ICD-10/CPT coding.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients and manage wait times.
• Complete check-in/check-out tasks including insurance verification and pre-authorizations.
• Collect co-pays/coinsurance/deductibles and issue receipts.
• Handle walk-ins and answer phones; schedule appointments.
• Maintain and file medical records; prepare for scheduling.

TheAssociate Patient Care Coordinatoris responsible for general clinic office functions that support efficient and effective patient care including patient registration, insurance verification, collection of applicable co-insurance and/or co-payments and scheduling of diagnostic and follow-up appointments and answering phones.

Schedule:Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm CST.

Location:1517 S. McColl Rd. Edinburg, TX. Some training will be required offsite at another nearby location.

Department: Primary Care

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greets patients as they arrive and manage appropriate standard wait times
• Complete check-in and check-out tasks to include insurance verification, complete pre-authorizations and/or precertification of procedures, and copy required documents
• Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
• Processes walk-in patients and visitors
• Answers phones and schedules appointments
• Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed
• Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
• Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
• Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1+ years of customer service experience with strong communication skills both in person and via phone
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft applications

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of medical office or healthcare setting experience, including data entry
• ICD-10 and CPT coding experience
• Prior experience with EMR computer applications
• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• Working knowledge of general office procedures
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)

The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
