The Associate, Oriental Insurance (Broker Support), is responsible for receiving, processing, and analyzing life insurance policies and annuities applications from Oriental Bank dual agents and insurance brokers. The role involves making decisions to submit applications to the insurance company or returning them for additional documentation. The position also includes coordinating and processing documentation for biannual renewal of the insurance OIN Corporate License and for all licensed insurance agents under OIN to ensure compliance with the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico. This hybrid role is based in San Juan, PR.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Decide if submitted life and annuities insurance applications can be forwarded to insurance companies.
  2. Review documents for completeness and compliance with company policies, federal and state regulations, and subscription guidelines.
  3. Submit insurance applications after analysis or return to agents with requests for missing documentation.
  4. Prepare and send original documents to the insurance company once all requirements are met.
  5. Follow up on submitted applications and provide additional documentation or clarifications as needed.
  6. Liaise with insurance companies to receive monthly account statements.
  7. Bill policies in AMS 360 and submit evidence of deposits.
  8. Assist brokers and dual agents with insurance offerings, quotes, and claims.
  9. Provide weekly sales reports from insurance brokers.
  10. Process monthly accounting statements for life insurance and annuities commissions.
  11. Coordinate and process documents for insurance license renewals in AMS 360.
  12. Support administrative duties as needed.
  13. Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with agents, clients, and insurance companies.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Broker Assistant or Administrative Assistant in a Broker Dealer; banking or insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Life insurance license preferred.
  • Knowledge of Subscription Guidelines preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
