Other Conditions: This advertisement faculty position, to begin approximately October 2022. This position will be funded by appropriated funds; subsequent partial extramural funding is expected. The University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC), an NCI-Designated Cancer Center, is seeking an established investigator with significant experience in translational and laboratory research in cancer biology, immunotherapy, drug development, or biomarkers for a tenure track position in the UHCC Cancer Biology Program. The position includes 80% protected time for translational research. The cancer biology program hosts scientists who are at the forefront of cancer research in molecular biology, gene x environment interactions and genetics. Researchers who may interact synergistically with other UHCC faculty, either because of similar research interests or because they contribute expertise in areas that could integrate with current UHCC research activities and who have NCI or other National peer-reviewed funding in translational cancer research, are the ideal candidates. The ideal candidate will also have a strong desire, and preferably demonstrated success, in mentoring fellows and young faculty. The successful candidate will serve as co-leader of the Cancer Biology program with a focus on translational research under the NCI Cancer Center Support Grant. Among the many core facilities and equipment available are ones supporting Genomics and Bioinformatics, Single Cell Genomics, Metabolomics, Analytical Biochemistry, Biostatistics, Pathology, Drug Discovery, Flow Cytometry and Microscopy. Opportunities and infrastructure are also available for translational research. The successful candidate will join a team of diverse and dynamic researchers devoted to groundbreaking research into the underlying mechanisms driving cancer and to developing novel diagnostics and therapeutics for cancer.
