Job description

Associate or Experienced Safety and Airworthiness Engineer

At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.

Boeing Chief Aerospace Safety Office (CASO) is seeking an Associate (Level 2) or Experienced (Level 3) Safety and Airworthiness Engineer to join its team in Everett, WA. This is a career opportunity in the Regulatory Administration & Airworthiness Compliance team within Boeing ODA (Organization Designation Authorization). The position provides exposure to a close interaction with a dynamic team of project managers, wider Boeing organizations, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

As an Individual Contributor, you will lead a variety of compliance-related projects, primarily conducting and managing Root Cause Analyses (RCA). You will apply problem‑solving models to issues identified by the FAA or internally, using project management tools and software to facilitate root cause analysis and investigations related to Airworthiness Non‑Compliance.

You will conduct research to determine non‑compliance with the ODA Procedures Manual or the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), provide oversight and guidance to resolve medium‑to‑complex certification/compliance technical issues, and clarify procedures related to FAA‑issued Letters of Investigation, Informal or Formal Compliance Actions, Internally driven Voluntary Disclosures, or Self‑Audit findings, and Part 25 Airworthiness Non‑Compliance.

This person will coordinate closely with internal stakeholders and the FAA, organize and conduct meetings as required to resolve outstanding issues, and manage cross‑functional, multi‑team coordination between Engineering, Regulatory Administration, Safety, Quality, and other organizations. Daily duties include ensuring regulatory project milestones are met, creating and reviewing documents for internal and external stakeholders including the FAA, and tracking assigned action items in support of company performance goals.

Primary responsibilities
  • Focus on Airworthiness Compliance and Certification related processes.
  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify complex life‑cycle balanced systems and system solutions.
  • Be a highly motivated individual contributor with high attention to detail and a deep subject‑matter expertise in FAA requirements and compliance.
  • Communicate across departments with stakeholders; strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for collaborating, sharing ideas, and presenting findings or recommendations.
  • Perform analyses to optimize total system‑of‑systems and/or system architecture.
  • Gather and analyze relevant data to perform root cause analysis and investigations.
  • Apply critical thinking to evaluate data and support decision‑making.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in project management.
  • 1+ years of experience in systems engineering.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience)
  • 1+ years of experience in FAA regulations.
  • 1+ years of experience with Root Cause Analysis.
