Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Seattle seeks an Associate Operations Specialist for Insourcing Solutions, based at the CRADL Facility. You will support animal care, training, and technical services across multiple sites in the Seattle area.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2+ years in animal care and technical handling in a research setting.
• Certification: AALAS LAT required or LATG/CVT/LVT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental enrichment for species.
• Assist with breeding, weaning, and surgical procedures as needed.
• Provide client support and handle inquiries on separations and transfers.

Job Summary

We are seeking an Associate Operations Specialist for our Insourcing Solutions Department to provide continuing support services to our Charles River clients throughout the Seattle area where you will be assigned to various sites based upon need. The AOS home base is our CRADL Facility in Seattle. The AOS will provide support in the following areas: animal care, technical, training to include:

• Monitor animal health and welfare
• Perform daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties: daily equipment checks; providing appropriate food and water; performing cage changing and/or cage cleaning; recording animal health concerns
• Provide environmental enrichment appropriate to species
• May be tasked to assist with breeding and weaning procedures
• May be tasked to assist with administrative needs including cage card management, data entry and review, manage census data.
• Provide client support and handle inquiries on separations and transfers
• Provide instruction to others on husbandry and technical procedures.
• Attend and participate in on-the-job and classroom training sessions
• Act as subject matter expert in all animal husbandry and routine technical skills
• Perform training of staff on husbandry
• May perform technical training of surgical techniques: intravenous or intradermal dose administration, manage breeding operations, perform comprehensive necropsy and tissue collection, perform routine assays or laboratory support.
• Perform surgical preparation, anesthesia administration and monitoring and post-surgical observations and associated record keeping

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Associate Operations Specialist position:

• Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Animal Science, Life Sciences or related discipline preferred.
• Experience: Two plus years of animal care, handling and technical experience within a research laboratory program
• Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the LAT; LATG, CVT, LVT, RVT certification preferred

The hourly range for this position is $27-$29/hour. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday 7AM-3:30PM
