Associate Microbiologist I, Full-Time (1st & 2nd Shifts)

Accupac is hiring for an Associate Microbiologist to join our 1st and 2nd shift teams at our Mainland, PA location.

Basic Job Functions:

Responsible to perform routine microbiological testing of raw materials, bulks, and finished products per customer supplied or compendia test methods.

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks based on current standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain neat and accurate documentation in logbooks, assay reports, and protocols in acceptance with current GMP requirements.
  • Prepare and sterilize media.
  • Perform growth promotion and sterility testing of media prepared and purchased, including quantification and evaluation.
  • Perform swab sampling on sanitized equipment.
  • Perform viable environmental sampling of facilities.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies.
  • Safe handling of viable pathogenic bacteria strains including Gram staining and identification.
  • Understanding of proper aseptic technique and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Train new personnel in customer and compendia test methods.
  • Interact as liaison with outside departments.
  • Involvement in the Plant Hygiene Program.
Minimum Requirements of the Job:
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers.
  • Possess thorough understanding of laboratory safety.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to use good judgment and common sense to evaluate information.
  • Able to understand basic computer skills and programs.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift or carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Climb step stools and maintain balance.
  • Color vision.
  • Bending/stooping.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Associate Microbiologist I: must have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related science field preferred with coursework in Microbiology.
  • Associate Microbiologist II: must have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related science field preferred with coursework in Microbiology. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a Micro Lab.
