Job summary

J.Crew Group is seeking an Associate Merchant to help manage seasonal assortments and act as the point person for cross-functional partners in production, marketing, design, allocation, and planning. You will drive category strategy and optimize omni-channel performance.

The role requires 3+ years in merchandising, strong Excel skills, and the ability to analyze data to inform decisions. A collaborative, detail-oriented mindset and ability to influence across teams are essential.

• 3+ years’ Merchandising experience.
• Proficient in Excel.
• Experience with a reporting or business analysis system (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
• Demonstrated analytical and business skills.

• Initiate market/competitor analysis and stay on top of industry trends.
• Manage merchandising systems and information management.
• Communicate changes to cross-functional partners – planning, production, design and wholesale; participate in store visits.
• Prepare and analyze Omni selling recaps to drive the business and make recommendations.
• Partner with planning in pre-season to plan and buy based on analysis of the business.
• Participate in inventory management and control with planning and distribution teams.
• Assist with pricing and profit strategies and promotions to drive gross margin.

The Role + Purpose

An Associate Merchant is responsible for helping to manage the execution of seasonal assortments, acting as point person for cross-functional business partners in production, marketing, design, allocation, and planning. They help to drive strategy for the categories they are managing.

• Initiate market/competitor analysis and always be on top of industry trends
• Manage merchandising systems and information management
• Communicate changes to all cross-functional partners - planning, production, design and wholesale Participate in store visits
• Prepare and analyze Omni selling recaps to drive your business. Make recommendations on how to optimize current sales and affect future plans Partner with planning in pre-season to plan and buy your department based on comprehensive analysis of the business – last year results, current business, etc
• Participate in inventory management and control with planning and distribution teams Participate with pricing and profit strategies – make promotional and markdown suggestions to drive profitable gross margin results
• Review new receipts against business trend to maximize sales and stock Manage one of our most SKU-intensive assortments, with heavy PO and system maintenance.

Salary Range

$64,200.00 - $79,600.00 At J.Crew Group (JCG) we aim to pay competitively for our company’s size and industry. The base salary offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work premises, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
