Job summary

LOFT in New York is seeking an Associate Merchant to support the lead Merchandiser in executing departmental strategies and shaping an actionable business plan. You will partner with cross-functional teams and assist in CLM meetings to drive results.

The role emphasizes trend analysis, reporting, assortment management, and close collaboration with Product and Planning partners in a hybrid New York office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or Merchandising or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related experience in Merchandising in Retail.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of retail financial measurements.

Responsibilities

• Support execution of departmental strategies and business objectives to achieve or exceed financial plans.
• Generate, analyze, and distribute weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports.
• Analyze business trends, recommend actions, and apply insights to future departmental strategies.
• Prepare materials for key Product Lifecycle meetings, including Hindsight and Investment Review.
• Research fashion trends, pricing, promotions, and competitive activity; make recommendations.

About The Role

The Associate Merchant of Lou & Grey collaborates with the lead Merchandiser on the execution of departmental strategies and business objectives; is responsible for translating information and ideas that contribute to an actionable business plan; and supports the department with any necessary tactical responsibilities.

• Generate, analyze, and distribute weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports.
• Analyze business trends, recommend actions, and apply insights to future departmental strategies.
• Provide applicable historical information and market research.
• Manage daily merchandising tasks, including assortment sheets, receipt updates, sample accuracy, handoffs, and timely cross-functional communication.
• Prepare materials for key Product Lifecycle meetings, including Hindsight and Investment Review.
• Research fashion trends, pricing, promotions, and competitive activity; make recommendations based on findings.
• Recommend style ranking and attributes and chase/cancel strategies.
• Provide information and ideas to support development of seasonal strategies.
• Actively participate on Cross-Functional team and make recommendations to drive results.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships and contribute as a solution-oriented team member.
• Demonstrate ability to affect key decisions within the Cross-Functional team.

You’ll bring to the role

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or Merchandising, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related experience in Merchandising in Retail.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of retail financial measurements.
• Strong fashion sense, with a sense of brand and client needs.
• Strong business acumen with potential to grow into a Merchant role.
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• The target salary range for this role is: $66,000 -$68,000*
• Hybrid: This position works in a hybrid model, with required days worked in the LOFT office location in New York, NY as defined by business needs.
