Job summary

Four Hands in Austin, TX is seeking an Associate Merchant to own the accuracy and reliability of merchandising data and reporting tools while supporting Senior Merchants in developing assortment line plans and executing product strategies across assigned categories.

You will regularly audit data, pricing, and outputs to maintain data integrity, analyze historical sales and market trends, and translate insights into actionable recommendations that align with growth and profitability goals.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in retail planning, buying, merchandising, or a related role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising or a related field.
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Join our Merchandising team as an Associate Merchant.

In This Role
  • Take ownership of the accuracy and reliability of merchandising data and reporting tools.
  • Support Senior Merchants in developing assortment line plans and executing product strategies across assigned categories.
  • Regularly audit merchandising data, product information, pricing, and reporting outputs to maintain data integrity across systems and processes.
  • Analyze historical sales performance, business trends, inventory performance, and market dynamics to identify growth, expansion, and optimization opportunities.
  • Translate data findings into actionable insights and clear recommendations that support assortment, pricing, inventory, and product strategy decisions.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of marketplace trends through competitive shopping, retail research, online analysis, trend sources, and consumer insights.
  • Translate market and competitive trends into brand‑specific opportunities that support sales, profitability, and overall category growth.
  • Support pricing analysis and gross margin goals through competitive pricing research, market analysis, and profitability review.
  • Monitor sales performance and partner with Merchandising leadership to adjust strategies as needed to achieve category targets.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional partners, including Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and Planning, to align merchandising initiatives with broader business objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned, in accordance with training and qualifications.

The Ideal Person
