A leading company is seeking an entry-level Underwriting Analyst to analyze contract structures and pricing quotes based on claims experience. The role involves risk factor analysis for group insurance contracts, financial analysis, and report preparation under the guidance of Senior Underwriters.
This job prices quotes and analyzes the structure of a contract for a group based on claims experience, characteristics of the employee groups, etc. The incumbent develops and uses discretion within Underwriting authority, adhering to HMIG policies, and ensures appropriate profitability and growth over time. The role includes identifying when to decline quotes that do not align with HMIG's strategy and risk structure. It involves analyzing risk factors for new enrollments, renewals, and amendments of group insurance contracts or self-funded plans, conforming to established policies and standards. The analyst reviews policies, market data, and guidelines to improve risk management, optimize enrollment, or manage existing membership. Data such as financial conditions, participation rates, industry types, employee group characteristics, and past claims are analyzed to determine benefits and set rates. The role includes preparing reports, providing rationale and support regarding underwriting results, rate calculations, and financial activities, and providing expense estimates and financial analysis. This is an entry-level position, with oversight from Senior Underwriters or Management until familiar with company procedures and policies.
