Job summary

Providence is seeking a Medical Assistant I to support licensed practitioners by delivering basic patient care under supervision, and by performing administrative duties as needed. The role emphasizes adherence to policies and patient-focused service.

Ideal candidates have accredited training or military medical training and relevant certifications, and are prepared to obtain and maintain Washington MA certification and CPR/BLS per hire. EHR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed accredited medical assistant training with hands-on clinical experience.
  • Washington MA Certification required upon hire.
  • Within 30 days of hire: BLS from American Heart Association.
  • Relevant medical assisting experience in a clinic setting (0–6 months).
  • Two years of medical training in the U.S. Armed Forces may substitute.
  • Apprenticeship or structured medical assistant program acceptable.

Job description

The MA I works unders the delegation of a licensed practioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing basic patient care to assigned patients. Basic patient care needs will be met though both administrative and clinical duties. An MA I is expected to perform in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Coursework/Training Graduate of an accredited school that includes hands on training in a clinical setting for medical assistants Or
  • Coursework/Training Graduate of a registered medical assistant apprenticeship program Or
  • Coursework/Training Has completed two years of medical training in the United States Armed Forces Or
  • Coursework/Training Minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant that includes the following clinical skills: obtaining vital signs, administering injections, and medication administration Or
  • Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Certification
  • Within 30 days of hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • Medical assisting experience in a clinic setting (0-6 months)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 months Prior experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast paced environment.
  • 6 months Previous experience in a healthcare setting working with an Electronic Health record (EHR).
