Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power US is seeking an Associate Designer in Michigan City, IN to create 3D CAD models of compressor sub-systems and support multiple engineers. You will release parts into PLM, perform simple weight/CG calculations, and help maintain BOMs and drawings.

Collaboration with engineers and staff will be essential to deliver robust, safety-focused designs. The role requires 1–4 years in engineering/manufacturing with strong NX experience, GD&T familiarity, and ERP/PLM proficiency.

Qualifications

• AS Degree minimum
• 1-4 years’ engineering/manufacturing experience
• Strong 3D parametric modeling skills
• Experience using PLM software (ECTR)
• Ability to create complex assemblies using constraints
• Understand P&ID and NX
• GD&T knowledge preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• ERP knowledge (JD Edwards or SAP)
• Self-starter and team player

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models of complex compressor sub-systems
• Model new vendor parts as necessary
• Support multiple engineers and projects
• Design air compressor components with safety and robustness in mind
• Design assemblies in context of top-level assembly
• Prepare Engineering Requests to document and release parts
• Provide status updates to management
• Develop and revise drawings, BOMs, and specifications
• Assist training and mentoring of less experienced team members
• Participate in cross-functional teams to meet goals
• Apply design practices to CFD and FEA model setups
• Provide technical support to sales, warranty, and customer service
• Perform engineering analysis on components and sub-systems
