Job description

Associate Material Handler

Purpose: This entry-level warehouse position involves performing material handling activities related to receiving, storing, issuing, packaging, and shipping materials, including raw materials and finished goods. The role also includes chemical handling and mail room activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop skills and understanding of warehouse processes, equipment, and systems.
  2. Receive and disperse parts from production and other departments.
  3. Process incoming purchase receipts and maintain accurate inventory to support Purchasing, Planning, and Production.
  4. Organize materials efficiently, generate, and use A.P.Ws from counting scales.
  5. Transport materials between buildings, maintain reject hold areas, and move gas cylinders as needed.
  6. Perform monthly statistical inventory counts.
  7. Rotate through various manufacturing processes, performing tasks in a team environment.
  8. Pick, package, and ship orders from inventory.
  9. Replenish prime inventory locations.
  10. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, adhering to housekeeping standards.
  11. Perform chemical handling activities as assigned.
  12. Manage mail room functions, including processing incoming/outgoing mail and internal deliveries.
  13. Support continuous improvement activities and sustain 5S standards.
  14. Follow all safety policies.
  15. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Work Experience & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not required.
  • Mathematical skills for calculating shipping charges, weights, and counts.
  • Ability to safely handle hazardous chemicals and waste.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Willingness to work scheduled overtime and rotate through various tasks in a team environment.
  • Positive attitude and ability to function effectively in a high-performance team.
