Job description

Position Overview

The Associate Manufacturing Supervisor - Front End Days is responsible for coordinating manufacturing operations to meet and exceed quality, cost and delivery commitments. This position will have supervisory responsibility over a shift of Manufacturing Technicians in a Wafer Fab responsible for the manufacture of MEMS-based products.

This position has a compressed work week; Front End Days - Every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday. 5:30 am- 6:00 pm

SCOPE

Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies.

COMPLEXITY

Works on issues of limited scope. Follows established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Monitors daily operations of a unit or sub-unit. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility.

DISCRETION

Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules.

INTERACTION

Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.

SUPERVISION

Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, and maintaining schedules. Generally supervises semi-skilled employees (e.g., assemblers, operators, clerical).

Job Description

Pay range for position: $35 - 45 per hour, commensurate with experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and coordinates workflow through Wafer Fab area.
  • Responsible for supervising manufacturing personnel.
  • Performs day-to-day operations, ensuring production quotas are met per schedule.
  • Assists in the selection process of manufacturing employees and is responsible for developing and evaluating personnel.
  • Establishes production schedules based on product requirements and material supply.
  • Responsible for timely delivery to specification of MEMS related silicon products to all downstream customers.
  • Ensures compliance with process instructions and safety practices.
  • Supports Operations Manager in preparation of production reports and forecasts.
  • Actively promotes FUJIFILM Dimatix’s safety rules; utilizes Personal Protective Equipment and works to correct safety and environmental hazards.
  • Performs various administrative tasks such as completing reports, processing time sheets, performance evaluations, etc.
  • Is a model of attendance and constant presence on the work floor to support direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises Manufacturing Technicians and other related positions.
  • Personnel selection, training, compensation and benefits, discipline, and personnel information system administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

REQUIRED:

  • Associate degree or equivalent and 4 or more years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience selecting, motivating and developing successful manufacturing teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be capable of administering policies in a fair and equitable fashion.
  • Must have strong administrative and record-keeping skills.
  • The ability to perform technical manufacturing, wafer fab functions and train as required.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing and tools, including their uses and maintenance.

DESIRED:

  • 4 or more years of manufacturing leadership or supervision experience.
  • Knowledge in areas of supply chain management.
  • Strong computer/software skills and knowledge
  • Exposure to 6 Sigma, Lean methodologies, and formal problem solving approaches.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Standing and sitting one-third to two-thirds of the time.
  • Walking, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms less than one-third of the time.
  • Lifting up to 10 lbs. under one-third of the time.
  • 90% of time present in fab directly working and directing technicians.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This job requires the supervisor to be performing job functions in an office environment, a light industrial setting, and a clean room manufacturing environment.
  • Cleanroom environment – must be able to wear full clean room garments.
  • Moderate noise level (printers, computers, equipment, moderate traffic, conversation).
