Job summary

Anthro is seeking a hands-on Associate Manufacturing Engineer to own the design, improvement, and documentation of manufacturing processes and equipment on our cell pilot line. You will work closely with operations and R&D to move new processes from development into repeatable production.

Responsibilities include equipment modification, SOP development, process control, data analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure quality, safety, and throughput in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience documenting SOPs, work instructions, and drawings.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and process improvement tools.

Job description

We are seeking a hands‑on Associate Manufacturing Engineer to support Anthro's mission to revolutionize the shape of energy storage. This role owns the design, improvement, and documentation of manufacturing processes and equipment on our cell pilot line, working closely with operations and R&D to move new processes from development into repeatable production.

Responsibilities
  • Scope and execute equipment modification and improvement projects on the cell pilot line, from concept through installation and qualification
  • Own development and standardization of SOPs, Work Instructions, and process recipes for assigned equipment and process steps
  • Perform equipment installation, setup, commissioning, and troubleshooting; drive root cause analysis and corrective action on equipment and process failures
  • Analyze process and production data to identify and implement improvements in throughput, yield, safety, and reliability
  • Support build campaigns on the floor, including run readiness, in-process monitoring, and post-run data review
  • Collaborate with operations, equipment, R&D, and quality teams to define, implement, and validate process changes
  • Interface with equipment vendors and integrators on specifications, spare parts, service, and technical issue resolution
  • Thoroughly document technical work and communicate results and status to the broader team
  • Comply with and help enforce all safety and quality standards within the manufacturing environment
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, process, or equipment engineering (internship and co‑op experience considered)
  • Demonstrated hands‑on process development, equipment troubleshooting, or automation experience in a production or pilot environment
  • Working understanding of mechanical systems, sensors, actuators, and process control concepts
  • Proficiency with CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) for fixture and equipment modification design
  • Experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation (SOPs, Work Instructions, technical drawings, change records)
  • Comfortable with mechanical fabrication, prototyping, and lab or production equipment setup
  • Ability to analyze process data and communicate conclusions clearly (Excel, Python, JMP, or similar)
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize across multiple concurrent projects on a small, agile team
  • U.S. Citizen or already eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with lithium‑ion cell manufacturing or another regulated/high‑precision production environment
  • Experience with pneumatic, vacuum, or fluid handling systems (e.g., gas purge or dispense systems)
  • Working knowledge of automation, PLCs, HMIs, or control logic; ability to read and modify ladder logic
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or structured process improvement methodologies
  • Experience with statistical process control, DOE, or capability analysis
  • Experience specifying, sourcing, and qualifying capital equipment (FAT/SAT, acceptance criteria, punchlist management)
  • Experience working in a dry room, glovebox, or other controlled environment
  • Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience. Expected salary range for posted level is $88k-110k
