POSITION TITLE: Associate Manager – Social Media

REPORTS TO: Sr Manager - Social Media

OVERVIEW:

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. is looking for a culturally fluent, trend-obsessed, and creative Associate Manager – Social Media to join our award-winning team. This person should have a deep understanding of social-first content, be energized by the fast pace of internet culture, and have a sharp eye for brand storytelling, especially through influencers and creators.

This role will be pivotal in ideating and executing timely, trend-driven content that connects with Gen-Z, supports key product and campaign priorities, and helps maintain American Eagle’s cultural relevance. Strong organization, cross-functional collaboration, and attention to detail are critical to success.

This position is located in NYC only and will be required to go into the office on a hybrid schedule.

What You Do:

  • Content Creation: Ideate, produce, and create social-first, trending content (static and video) with a keen eye for detail and cultural relevance across Instagram/Reels, TikTok, Threads, Pinterest, Youtube, Snap and more.
  • Content Calendar & Planning: Own and manage AE’s cultural calendar, ensuring timely content coverage of key seasonal and cultural moments.
  • Influencer & Creator Optimization: Identify creator and influencer campaigns, ensuring our product is showcased in the most engaging, authentic, and aspirational way possible.
  • Strategic Product Integration: Partner closely with merchant and product teams to align on key business priorities, campaign drops, and product storytelling opportunities, including requesting photo flatlays from the production team.
  • Social & Cultural Insight: Act as an in-house expert on Gen-Z, Gen Alpha, and cultural trends; provide insights that inform strategy and content decisions.
  • Performance Reporting: Compile insights and reports on social performance and cultural trends to inform leadership and support decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively across multiple departments and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Flexibility: Provide social coverage during key cultural or brand moments, which may occasionally require evening or weekend availability.

What You Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a four-year university (preferred)
  • 2+ years of post college relevant experience, ideally in social media for a consumer brand or at a creative agency;corporate retail experience is a strong plus
  • A sharp, creative perspective on social content and an understanding of what resonates with Gen-Z across platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to create and edit native content on TikTok, Reels, and other video platforms
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent copywriting and communication skills; witty, thoughtful, and culturally fluent voice
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Google Slides, and Google Docs
  • A collaborative spirit and team-first mindset, always ready to contribute to shared success

PAY/BENEFITS INFORMATION:

Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.
