Starboard Group and Onboard Media seeks an Associate Buyer to shape apparel collections for cruise clientele. You will lead from concept through production, translating trends into commercially viable products while partnering with designers, vendors, and factories.

The Associate Buyer partners with the Buyer to develop and execute the strategic vision, business strategy, product roadmap, and assortment plan for assigned categories or programs. At more experienced levels, this role may independently manage a category of business under the Buyer’s guidance.
Hands-onapparel product development experience is required. The ideal candidate has experience managing the full product lifecycle, from trend and concept development through design, sourcing, costing, fabric and trim selection, sampling, fit and construction reviews, approvals, production, and final execution. Experience partnering with designers, vendors, sourcing teams, and factories to commercialize apparel is essential.
The Associate Buyer translatesconsumer trends, brand direction, and business opportunities into commercially viable apparel products and collections. Responsibilities include identifying product opportunities, developing seasonal concepts and briefs, partnering on design and development, managing costing and margin objectives, reviewing samples and fit, providing product feedback, managing approvals, and ensuring timely delivery to quality, aesthetic, and commercial standards.
A key focus of the role is building and strengtheningcruise line brand partnerships. The Associate Buyer serves as a day-to-day merchandise and product development partner to assigned clients, developing a deep understanding of their brand, guest demographics, positioning, and business objectives. They build trusted relationships, identify opportunities, present recommendations, incorporate feedback, and ensure assortments align with both brand and commercial goals.
The Associate Buyer must be a confidentpresenter and influencer, able to communicate assortment strategies, product concepts, business performance, and recommendations to clients, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams. Strong business acumen, product expertise, data-driven decision-making, and storytelling skills are essential.
The role partners closely with Planning to achievesales, gross margin, inventory, and weeks-of-supply objectives, while connecting financial strategies to assortment and product development decisions. The Associate Buyer evaluates performance, responds to in-season trends, and applies learnings to future assortments and product development.
The Associate Buyer collaborates cross-functionally withDesign, Planning, Sourcing, Production, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, vendors, factories, and cruise line partnersto drive successful product and assortment execution from concept through commercialization.

Some flexibility in hours is permitted, employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Physical Demands:Office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing, occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling use of office machinery. This position requires the ability tooccasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Oral and auditory enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication automated devise such as the telephone.
