Job summary

Salem Health is seeking an associate maintenance engineer to join our facilities team in Salem, Oregon. You will perform routine and complex repairs, installations and modifications to hospital equipment and buildings, respond to emergency situations, and keep accurate maintenance records in our CMMS.

With four years of building and equipment maintenance experience, you’ll work with experienced professionals in a dynamic healthcare setting, supporting reliability and safety across our hospital

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license within 3 months of hire.
  • Minimum of four years building/equipment maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor and complex repairs, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and buildings with limited supervision.
  • Complete maintenance per manufacturer specifications and hospital standards.
  • Perform watch standing on building and hospital equipment.
  • Respond to and resolve emergency situations on systems and equipment.
  • Document maintenance and operations in the electronic maintenance management system.
  • Maintain communication about maintenance requests and monitor supplies.

Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Multiple shifts available:

A) 10:00 pm - 6:30 am, Sunday - Thursday
B) 10:00 pm - 6:30 am, Tuesday - Saturday

Your role with us

As an associate maintenance engineer at Salem Health, you'll be an integral part of our facilities team, supporting the reliability and efficiency of our hospital infrastructure. You'll assist in performing routine and complex repairs, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and buildings, while also responding to emergency situations and maintaining accurate records. This role is ideal for an engineer looking to develop their skills and expertise in a dynamic healthcare environment, working collaboratively with experienced professionals to keep our facilities running smoothly and safely.

What you'll do
  • With limited supervision, performs a variety of minor and complex repairs, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and buildings.
  • Completes assigned maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and hospital standards.
  • Performs watch standing activities on physical building and hospital equipment.
  • Responds to and resolves emergency situations on systems and equipment.
  • Maintains repair and preventative maintenance history by accurately documenting maintenance and operational records in electronic maintenance management system.
  • Communicates accurate and pertinent information regarding maintenance requests to customers, co-workers and leadership in a timely manner;Monitors and orders facilities maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Participates in department committees and decision-making activities; Assists in training as requested.
  • Provides assistance to co-workers and department leads as needed; Keeps work areas clean and safe, picking up debris at work sites and surrounding areas.
Required qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, higher level education may be accepted in lieu of high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and be eligible for authorization according to Salem Health’s Fleet Safety Program policy within three months of hire, maintaining it thereafter.
  • Minimum of four years of building and equipment maintenance or equivalent experience required.
