Description

The Associate Loan Specialist assists the Loan Processing Manager, Underwriter, Closer and Lenders in the processing, underwriting, and closing of loans within the department. They maintain a professional work environment and uphold the confidentiality of the department, customers, and the bank. They work as a valued team member among peers and willfully act as backup for others as necessary to ensure that the bank is giving the best customer service to our customers while following all bank policies, procedures as well as regulatory and investor guidelines.

ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Regular onsite attendance
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Provides accurate, efficient and exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Maintains knowledge of bank regulations, security and compliance responsibilities, products, policies, procedures and meets deadlines
  • Work with Lenders to gather supporting documentation for income, employment, assets and any required documentation
  • Check loan files for accuracy, completeness, and missing details.
  • Distribute necessary disclosures and booklets within regulatory guidelines
  • Evaluating credit histories for the applications and requesting supporting documentation as needed
  • Order title work, appraisals, flood determinations, hazard binders
  • Assist with phone calls and emails directed to the department and finish to completion if possible or direct to the correct person.
  • Assist with the income calculations as needed
  • Review residential appraisal reports for completeness, accuracy and adhere to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), Lender and regulatory guidelines
  • Work with Appraisers to order and correct the residential appraisals
  • Work with the Closer and Underwriter as needed to collect required information
  • Create accurate residential and consumer closing packages, deeds, titles, title insurance policies, and closing disclosures.
  • Properly disburse funds as needed and check for accuracy and balancing.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work with strict deadlines
  • Willingness to learn new concepts to grow and advance
  • Satisfactorily completes all training required for the position
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; one to three years related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Computer Skills: Working knowledge of computers and the internet. Basic functions using Microsoft Word and Excel.
