NFC is looking to hire an experienced employment law Associate for our growing West Coast office and will be responsible for interfacing with clients, drafting & arguing motions, analyzing data, conducting all aspects of discovery and attending mediations. This position will be filled by a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual who excels in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that values top-quality work and positive contributions to the workplace.

Location: Hybrid – work in NFC’s San Diego, CA office a minimum of two (2) days per week. Under NFC’s current hybrid model (which is subject to change), in-office days are every Wednesday, with a second day on either Tuesday or Thursday. Must be flexible and willing to work in person for additional days as needed for coverage and/or other business needs.

Essential Functions:

Applicant must have 4 – 8 years of substantive employment law experience, with a minimum of two years of experience in complex litigation—specifically Wage & Hour Class Actions and/or Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) cases.

Responsibilities are focused on employment litigation private sector corporate clients in California, specifically:

  • Assisting in the management of wage & hour class action and PAGA cases
  • Collaborating with senior attorney to develop case strategies
  • Assisting with deposition preparation, hearings, motions, mediations, etc.
  • Preparing and responding to written discovery (including E-discovery) and class/PAGA mediation discovery requests
  • Analyzing class/PAGA wage & hour data
  • Conducting legal research
  • Trial preparation and attendance
  • Proactive communication with NFC team & clients
  • All aspects of litigation including conducting work on: lawsuits; EEO, DOL, and other administrative charges; pre-litigation demands; subpoenas, etc.

Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing employment law with a focus on wage & hour class action and/or PAGA cases.
  • Must be admitted to the California Bar
  • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively and positively in a dynamic team environment
  • The ability to identify and resolve problems quickly
  • The ability to manage multiple clients and matters

Salary Range (based on full-time): 160k (4 years experience) – 180k (8 years experience)

The Firm is providing this good faith salary range to comply with applicable law. The applicant’s final salary will depend on a number of factors including the applicant’s skills, experience, and years of practicing employment law.
