Open to candidates who are permanent or have filed for the Open-Competitive ASSOCIATE LABORATORY MICROBIOLOGIST Exam No. 4016 within the filing period from December 7, 2023, to January 9, 2024, or the PROMOTION TO ASSOCIATE LABORATORY MICROBIOLOGIST Exam No. 4513 within the same period.

We seek a qualified Associate Laboratory Microbiologist I to support laboratory operations and administrative tasks, perform complex testing on clinical and environmental specimens, and ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.
Responsibilities include using manual and automated methods in BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, generating reports, maintaining records, cross-training in various techniques, managing laboratory supplies, and supporting quality assurance programs.
Applicants should bring necessary documentation to interviews, including proof of identity, education, address, and professional licenses, and be prepared for potential on-boarding procedures.
Experience in diagnostic testing laboratories and eligibility for a NYS Clinical Technologist license are preferred. Maintaining this license is required for employment.
NYC residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment, with exceptions based on employment duration and location.
