Our client is seeking an Associate to join its investment team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role is a generalist seat spanning portfolio management, cross-functional projects, investor relations, and fundraising, with the mix shifting as the fund's needs change. The ideal candidate has worked directly with limited partners, has relationships across high-net-worth family offices, and can own a multi-month workstream with limited direction.
Responsibilities:
- Own projects across portfolio management, investor relations, and the firm's corporate and research partnerships
- Work with portfolio companies on company formation, readiness, and operational initiatives
- Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for limited partners, including high-net-worth family offices
- Plan and run the annual LP meeting
- Prepare LP communications, quarterly reporting, and fundraising materials
- Support fundraising for the fund and for portfolio companies' later rounds, including Series B and beyond
- Prepare investment memos, meeting pre-reads, and other written materials
- Conduct research on markets, technologies, competitors, and industry trends
- Support senior team members across investment analysis and meeting preparation
Qualifications:
- 3–8 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or a comparable investor-facing role
- Direct experience preparing materials for and working directly with limited partners
- Established relationships with high-net-worth family offices and a working understanding of how they evaluate managers
- Experience supporting fundraising for a fund, portfolio companies, or both
- Strong written communication and attention to detail; the firm documents heavily and shares context in writing
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to carry a multi-month workstream to a fixed date
- Strong financial and analytical foundation
- Experience in a venture-backed startup or operating environment is a plus
- Ability to work effectively with incomplete information and ambiguity
- Intellectual curiosity and genuine interest in AI, emerging technologies, and company building
- Collaborative, low-ego, willing to roll up their sleeves, and comfortable operating in a demanding environment
- Fluency with modern AI tools and interest in AI-native workflows
- Based in or willing to relocate to the SF Bay Area
