Job summary

HSBC’s Institutional Portfolio Group (IPG) seeks an Associate to support Relationship Managers for a diverse portfolio of Banks and Public Sector clients across jurisdictions. You will coordinate across HSBC’s network to deliver products, plan client meetings, and help convert ideas into executed outcomes.

You will work with product and risk teams to balance risk and return, assist with credit requests, and ensure AML/KYC compliance.

Qualifications

  • Proficient Spanish language skills.
  • Analyst/Associate-level experience in banking/financial services.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to lead across countries, teams and stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of financial markets and banking products (cash management, custody, trade, lending, capital markets).
  • Strong risk mindset and familiarity with AML/KYC expectations.

Institutional Portfolio Group is the client sector within Institutional Client Group responsible for all aspects of the Group's relationships with developing or foreign headquartered institutional clients.

As our Associate, Institutional Portfolio Group (IPG) you will:
  • Support Relationship Managers/Global Relationship Managers in day-to-day coverage for a portfolio of Banks (including Correspondent Banks) and Public Sector clients (e.g., sovereigns, central banks, multilateral development banks, local development banks, state-owned entities)
  • Coordinate across HSBC’s network to deliver products and services to clients, identifying opportunities and supporting the conversion of ideas into executed outcomes
  • Plan and deliver high-profile client meetings, materials, and events that support business development and HSBC’s strategy
  • Support revenue generation against targets, product alignment, customer satisfaction, and disciplined cost management
  • Maintain effective working relationships with key client contacts and internal stakeholders across regions and product teams
  • Support origination and execution across a broad spectrum of HSBC capabilities and products
  • Partner with product and risk stakeholders to ensure transactions appropriately balance risk and return, meet internal governance requirements, and protect HSBC from material loss
  • Draft and present (as required) credit requests and supporting documentation to senior credit officers and relevant internal committees, demonstrating strong written communication and sound judgement
  • Act as a First Line of Defense owner for managing financial crime and relationship risk across the portfolio
  • Ensure assigned relationships comply with AML (Anti Money Laundering) / KYC (Know Your Customer) / Compliance requirements and HSBC control standards
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely remediation of audit findings and addressing issues raised by internal governance and external regulators
  • Support presentations/escalations and participate in governance forums as needed
You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
  • Proficient Spanish language skills
  • Analyst/Associate-level experience in banking/financial services, ideally with exposure to Financial Institutions (including Correspondent Banking) and/or Public Sector clients across jurisdictions
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to lead by influence across countries, teams, and senior stakeholders
  • Good understanding of financial markets and banking products (e.g., cash management, custody, trade, lending, capital markets, asset finance)
  • Strong risk mindset, including familiarity with credit fundamentals and financial crime / AML / KYC expectations (Correspondent Banking risk experience preferred)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to learn quickly and take ownership
  • Commitment to acting with integrity and upholding HSBC’s values and business principles
  • FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses are required. A contingency period to obtain licensing can be provided at manager’s discretion

Compensation and Pay

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
