Overview
Associate Industrial Engineer responsible for building labor standards, supporting continuous improvement projects, enhancing facility utilization, improving SLAs, and ensuring a safe work environment for Deckers associates.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimise facility performance: improve metrics, systems, safety, and quality within the Distribution Center.
- Collaborate with Operations leadership to prioritize and drive improvements that benefit the customer experience.
- Develop and lead continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to address gaps and improve processes.
- Lead Lean training sessions and rapid improvement events to spread knowledge.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of complex production and processes to identify improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate business teams and coach members to recognise strong performers and drive improvement.
- Support environmental sustainability initiatives in line with corporate goals.
- Ensure operations run safely and efficiently while fostering a culture of recognition and coaching.
- Develop labor standards, publish area efficiency levels, and partner with facility leadership to improve operational effectiveness.
- Improve customer SLAs, reduce labor costs, and drive improvement in overall CPU.
- Monitor project status, identify constraints, and propose creative solutions to remove bottlenecks.
- Prepare and present regular presentations to senior management, communicating key take‑aways and data to support decisions.
- Develop measurement plans to ensure improvements are repeatable and realised, supporting workplace safety communication.
- Lead the development of a prioritized project pipeline to deliver Cost of Quality reduction goals.
Qualifications
Education / Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/System Engineering (preferred)
- BasicMOST Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (preferred)
Work Experience
- 1–3 years of experience developing and implementing labor standards.
- Labor management implementation and productivity reporting.
- 1–3 years of experience optimizing fulfillment and distribution warehouse operations.
- Experience with automation technologies (Autostore, Exotec, Caja).
- Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience writing SQL queries to extract data from WMS.
- Experience in facility and process redesign and implementation.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to influence and manage change.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to execute several projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of OSHA compliance fundamentals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
- Ability to prepare and present information, responding to questions from management and other stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Team building, project management, and organisational skills.
- Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment and attention to detail.
- Collaboration in both individual and team settings.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and maintain hearing. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment
The noise level is usually moderate. Employees may be exposed to different weather elements.
Compensation
$62,300.00 – $72,500.00 for the US – IN US8 Midwest Distribution Center. Pay determined by location and additional factors such as experience, education, and training.
