Axelrod Immigration Law, a boutique immigration law firm in Memphis, seeks an associate attorney to join us in the good fight. Our firm zealously represents noncitizens in removal proceedings before the Memphis Immigration Court, as well as family-based, humanitarian, and naturalization cases across the country.
Minimum qualifications:
- Licensed in any US jurisdiction.
- 1 - 2 years practicing immigration law including some experience with family, humanitarian, and/or removal defense.
- Strong writer and researcher.
- Available for in-person appearances at Memphis EOIR & USCIS, likely 2 -5 times per month.
- Compassionate, curious, collaborative. Unapologetic advocate for immigrants, due process, and human rights.
The ideal candidate will also have some of the following qualifications:
- Bilingual or professional-level fluency in written and spoken Spanish, or alternatively, Arabic, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Vietnamese, or Russian.
- 3+ years practicing immigration law, including independent management of removal defense and complex family / humanitarian cases, and supervision of support staff.
- Experience with habeas and/or other federal litigation (mandamus, APA, PFR).
- Skill and experience in ethical use of LLMs / AI / other automation tools.
- Licensed in TN, AR, and/or MS and experience or interest in predicate orders for Special Immigrant Juvenile cases.
Compensation & benefits:
- Starting salary of $75 - $100k / year depending on experience and qualifications, in addition to quarterly bonuses based on firm revenue and individual performance.
- BCBS TN health insurance (firm covers 80% of employee premium and 50% of family premium).
- Dental and vision insurance (firm covers 75% of premium for employees and dependents).
- 401k with automatic 3% employer contribution.
- Life insurance & short-term disability insurance (firm covers 100% of premium).
- 15 days PTO plus most federal holidays and additional days for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year.
