Job summary

Green Thumb is seeking an Associate HR Business Partner to join its People Team and support production facilities in Centreville, MD. This highly execution-focused role partners with hourly teams, supervisors, and management to align HR strategy with rapid growth.

You will handle employee relations, onboarding, leave policies, performance and talent management, and cross-functional projects with centers of excellence. The position requires 2+ years HRbp/HR support and a degree in business/HR.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or Organizational Development preferred; SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP Certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in an HR support role or HR Business Partner experience.
  • Experience supporting a production, distribution or high-growth, fast-paced and complex work environment.
  • Experience with large population of hourly employees and providing regional support is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to confidently interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective organization and planning skills – our systems and processes are manual and at times, administrative – must be able to keep up with proper documentation, filing and follow-up.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and coaching skills.
  • Operationally strong, detail obsessed; sees the big picture and connects details to strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Culture Champion: scale and enhance culture related to employee engagement and being a best place to work in cannabis.
  • Employee Relations: serve as a confidential resource; investigate issues and advise business leaders.
  • Manage Administrative Routines: onboarding, new hire orientation, employee data maintenance, payroll changes, safety records, state badges.
  • Execution of Programs and Processes: roll-out and maintain scalable HR programs.
  • Relationship Management: build strong relationships with site leadership and cross-functional People team.
  • Employment Law and Leave Policies/Administration: aware of federal/state law; assist with leave processes.
  • Talent and Performance Management: identify needs and gaps; support new solutions to close gaps.
  • Project Management Support: collaborate on one-off projects with Centers of Excellence.

Job description

The Associate HR Business Partner (AHRBP) is a critical role on Green Thumb’s People Team. This role will be based out of our and support our Production facility(ies) as we look to rapid and sustainably scale. The Associate HRBP operates under the supervisor of a HRBP or SR HRBP to align business objectives, HR strategy and talent to scale our rapid growth. The Associate HR Business Partner is highly execution focused and partners with our hourly teams, supervisors, and members of the management team.

Essential functions:

  • Culture Champion: As a member of the People team, you are part of the heartbeat of Green Thumb; you will assist in how to scale and enhance our culture as it relates to employee engagement and becoming a best place to work in the cannabis industry.
  • Employee Relations : Serve as a confidential resource to employees and managers to support and expand employee relations issues in partnership with Employee Relations. Complete thorough investigations of issues and advise business leaders appropriately.
  • Manage Administrative Routines : Ensure that all routines are completed timely and efficiently for your site(s), including new hire orientation, employee roundtables, processing pay and position changes, employee data maintenance, safety record keeping, state badging requirements, etc.
  • Execution of Programs and Processes: Roll-out and the maintenance of programs and processes for a consistent and scalable approach.
  • Relationship Management: Create and maintain strong and trusting relationships across the organization; partner cross-functionally with the site(s) management and leadership team, internal People team to ensure that the team can grow, scale, and exceed business objectives .
  • Employment Law and Leave Policies/Administration: Well-versed in federal and state employment law and fluent in leave policies and administration for our employees. Partner with our Total Rewards team to help our employees understand their role in the leave process.
  • Talent and Performance Management: Partner with your HRBP to identify talent needs, risks, and gaps. Support the implementation of new solutions to close gaps and build bench strength.
  • Project Management Support: There will be one-off projects, process improvements, and ability to partner with other Centers of Excellence, specifically with Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Talent & Org Development and Employee Relations.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Be aware of hazards in the workspace.
  • Retain and understand department specific training.
  • Report safety incidents/ concerns and comply with follow-up actions.
  • Be compliant with area safety requirements, state regulations and PPE requirements.
  • Follow GMP, biosecurity, sanitation or other quality and compliance requirements.
  • Perform record keeping accurately and completely as directed by a lead or supervisor.
  • Maintain and calibrate tools, equipment and machinery as directed by a lead or supervisor.
  • Report and elevate safety & quality concerns.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus .
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
  • Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil).

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must possess valid state ID.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain, and maintain, state badging requirements to work in the cannabis industry (requires background check and state review)

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.

Green Thumb Pay Range

$65,000 - $85,000 USD
