Job summary

HDR is seeking an Associate Health Principal to steer the Health sector in the Charleston, SC region. You will grow the client base, guide design strategy for healthcare facilities, and collaborate with HDR’s health experts to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will mentor teams, manage client relations, and help shape industry outreach through abstracts and presentations, while maintaining a strong market presence locally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture and 10 years related experience.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
• Registered Architect with local market knowledge.
• Ability to lead a team and mentor staff.

Job description

As an Associate Health Principal at HDR, you will guide the overall direction of the Health sector in the local region and be part of the #1 Healthcare team in the industry. You will develop a client base, nurture client relationships, and help agents of change in healthcare design and delivery.

Leadership Responsibilities

• In coordination with the local Health Principal, contribute to the leadership and visioning for the Health sector in the local area/region.
• Assist local Health Principal and leadership in reaching net fees booked goals.
• Contribute to or lead capture plans, qualifications, and proposals for Health clients/pursuits.
• Contribute to or lead interview strategies and implementation.
• Learn or lead internal HDR marketing processes, such as GNG, Fee Development/Approval, risk awareness and data maintenance.
• Serve as Project Manager (or other roles as appropriate) on projects and prepare or negotiate project contracts.
• Maintain project oversight throughout execution, including conformance to client expectations for technical/quality, financial performance, and schedule adherence.
• Interface with clients proactively, by engaging them regularly through multiple channels.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to health staff and project teams.
• In collaboration with Health subject matter experts, and independently when appropriate, develop abstracts and presentations for industry conferences, seminars, workshops, and other similar events promoting sector messages, research, project outcomes, lessons learned, trends, etc.
• Actively cultivate a network of industry partners for intelligence gathering and strategic development.
• Regular engagement in local relevant industry organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10 years’ experience in the architectural industry
• 7 years’ experience in healthcare architecture
• Strong connections with health systems
• Local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
• Knowledge and experience within the local and regional market
