Job Summary:

The Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for the planning, recruiting, promotion and administration of a quality Division II basketball program and is a full-time employee reporting directly to the Head Men's Basketball Coach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, promotes, recruits and administers a quality Division II basketball program in conjunction with the Head Coach.
  2. Manages travel logistics and essentials for team travel.
  3. Managing administrative duties including but not limited to scheduling, budget, compliance and university forms.
  4. Assist in managing all aspects of the basketball program including player development athletically, academically and socially.
  5. Assist in managing the program budget and support staff.
  6. Develops a strong recruiting base of top-quality student athletes.
  7. Maintains basketball records.
  8. Displays effective on-court teaching and coaching methods.
  9. Manage equipment inventory and distribution.
  10. Maintains proper opponent scouting reports.
  11. Monitors student-athletes in academics, athletics and personal matters.
  12. Maintains a competitive Division II schedule, floor practices, promotions and summer camp programs.
  13. Assisting in fundraising campaigns through promotion and execution.
  14. Managing community service activities.
  15. Monitors social media of the student athletes and manages the Men’s Basketball Team social media.
  16. Assists with alumni relations.
  17. Must maintain an atmosphere of compliance and adhere to all NCAA, CIAA and Lincoln University rules, regulations and athletic department policies.
  18. All other duties as assigned by the Head Basketball Coach.

Qualifications:

  1. Three years of successful basketball coaching experience at the college level.
  2. Division II coaching experience preferred.
  3. Must have proven success in coaching, supervising and working with student-athletes.
  4. Must have the ability to accept and carry out assigned program responsibilities.
  5. Film exchange and handling Synergy, Teamworks compliance and recruiting forms and logistics planning.
  6. Must have the ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of the NCAA rules and regulations.
  7. Must have a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically.
  8. Must communicate effectively with people from varied social, educational, and economic backgrounds.
  9. Must be able to work without constant supervision, make decisions and have good judgment.
  10. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects and prioritize based on departmental functionality.
  11. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  12. Must have a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
  13. Must be mature, dependable, have a willingness to help others, and serve as a positive role model for students.

Physical Demands:

Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
