Job summary

  • Support advocacy efforts across the region by developing relationships with stakeholders and decisionmakers.
  • Coordinate with Invenergy contract lobbyists and direct their activities.
  • Assist external stakeholders to achieve company objectives.
  • Develop positions on legislative proposals with internal subject matter experts.
  • Support efforts to develop and pass legislation to promote company objectives.
  • Identify potential legislative threats to the company and communicate positions.
  • Review statutory and regulatory requirements and prepare background reports.

Job Description
Position Overview

As an Associate, Government Affairs – Central, you will focus on Invenergy's government affairs activities, primarily in the legislative and executive branch, across the Midwest. This position will support the overall Government Affairs initiatives and report to the Senior Manager, Government Affairs. You will work collaboratively with members of all departments within the company. In addition, this position requires an ability to work constructively with external stakeholders including trade organization leadership and staff, lobbyists, and peer companies. This position involves policy analysis, budgeting, preparing strategy documents, and weekly reporting.

The position will be on-site at Invenergy's Chicago office.

Responsibilities
  • Support advocacy efforts across the region by developing relationships with necessary stakeholders and decisionmakers.
  • Serve as aliaison with Invenergy contract lobbyists and direct their activities.
  • Support coordination effortswith external stakeholders and interest groups toassistin achieving companyobjectives.
  • Work closely with internal subject matter experts to develop positions on legislative proposals.
  • Support efforts to develop and pass legislation to promote companyobjectives.
  • Assist leadershipinidentifying potential legislative threats to the company.
  • Communicate the Company’s positionduring trade organization meetings.
  • Review statutory and regulatory requirements and develop comprehensive background reports on priority issues across key states.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+years of relevant professional experience with 2+ years of legislative or energy related experience(i.e.utility, trade organization, government agency, independent power producer, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degreerequired.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time or as needed.Travel will ebb and flow based on legislative activity.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable in public speaking roles.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability toidentifyand solve problems.
  • Able tomaintainconfidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
Base Pay

$82,000.00 - $95,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 20% - 30%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
