Job summary

Carvana is seeking an Associate General Manager for Logistics to oversee Vehicle Transport operations and lead multiple teams at the assigned Logistics Field Operations location. You will organize, optimize and problem-solve to support Carvana’s revolutionary used-car buying experience.

The role requires hands-on leadership, operations optimization, and the ability to align site goals with corporate strategy.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership of teams and managers.
  • 4+ years in logistics or supply chain roles.
  • Experience managing CDL drivers or similar transportation operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist General Manager to ensure day-to-day operations run efficiently.
  • Develop site goals with leadership and ensure effective execution.
  • Implement programs to optimize network operations and resource planning.
  • Prepare periodic reports and present insights to business leaders.
  • Monitor compliance with policies, procedures and performance standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams for planning and asset management.

About the team and position

Logistics is the art of problem-solving personified. As the Associate General Manager for Logistics at Carvana, you will ensure that our promise of a revolutionary used car purchase process is realized. You will do this by becoming the subject matter expert in all facets of the logistics operations. You’ll be organizing, and optimizing the Vehicle Transport operations, ensuring the day to day activities are completed, and problem solving through complex obstacles to your business.

Our purpose is to safely deliver the right vehicle to the right place at the right time in the right condition.

This position oversees multiple managers and their teams at the assigned Logistic Field Operations location/s.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist General Manager to ensure day-to-day business operations run efficiently and effectively.
  • Work with the General Manager and other Company leaders to develop site specific goals and objectives, and ensure alignment and effective execution within the site.
  • Effectively execute new programs, initiatives, and strategies to optimize network operations through prioritization, work planning, resource allocation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Gather pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information, and prepare periodic reports and presentations to business leaders.
  • Monitor adherence to systems, policies, procedures, performance standards, and regulatory requirements, and take appropriate action to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for proper planning, scheduling and asset management.
  • Provide mentoring and accountability to direct reports and succession planning through coaching, leadership development and training, and performance management.
  • Assist in the selection of highly qualified candidates, orientation, and training of employees
  • Evaluate and identify key productivity indicators, trends and options, as well as implement process improvement initiatives and choose appropriate courses of action
  • Ensure efficient and economical performance in accordance with strategic plans, goals, objectives, and operating budgets.
  • Proactively communicate information to direct reports, providing clear understanding of expectations, performance measures, and goals.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to work outdoors regularly for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work in an office environment, with extensive use of computers, including the ability to sit for up to 4 or more hours.
  • Ability to safely perform physical requirements of the position, including: frequently move in and out of vehicles; frequently stand, bend, twist, stoop, and squat; regularly walk 75’; regularly climb ladders and ramps of up to 10’; regularly work up to 10’ above ground; continually sit for 10 hours; regularly push, pull and lift 20 lbs., and periodically lift up to 60 lbs.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 years of actual people leadership experienceand4 years of logistics or supply chain experienceORBachelor's Degree in related fields.
  • Demonstrable experience leading or developing people (in either formal or informal roles), including managing CDL drivers.
  • Transportation experience, which may include driving a vehicle transporter or tractor trailer, or equivalent Military experience preferred.
