Job summary

EnergyHub, a software and technology company, seeks an Associate General Counsel in New York to provide legal guidance across commercial contracts, privacy, IP, compliance, and regulatory matters in a fast-growing environment.

You will draft, negotiate, and manage complex agreements; advise on commercial terms; collaborate with cross-functional teams; and supervise outside counsel while supporting business objectives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of in-house or law firm experience in a technology or software environment.
• Strong experience negotiating, drafting and reviewing commercial contracts.
• Experience with public utilities, IP, data privacy or regulatory frameworks is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to become a corporate generalist.
• Team player with professionalism and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines in a fast-growing environment.
• Process improvement and problem-solving mindset.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, analytical and negotiation skills.
• J.D. from a leading law school; NY Bar eligibility or membership.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Alarm.com HQ in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

Associate General Counsel

EnergyHub empowers utilities and their customers to create a clean, distributed energy future by turning smart thermostats, EVs, batteries and other products into virtual power plants that keep the grid stable and enable higher penetration of solar and wind power.

About the Opportunity

The Associate General Counsel will work closely with EnergyHub’s business leaders and technical teams to provide legal advice across a wide range of matters, including commercial contracts, privacy, IP, compliance, M&A, and regulatory issues.

Main Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements for a software and technology company, including vendor, reseller, licensing and marketing contracts.
• Advise on commercial terms, compliance, privacy, security and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with executive, sales, IT, product and other business teams to support legal and business processes.
• Work with the EnergyHub/Alarm.com legal team, supervise outside counsel and manage paralegal resources.
• Develop and drive compliance policies and procedures that support business and strategic objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
