About the Role

We are seeking a qualified attorney for a position in the UnitedHealthcare legal department for the Southeast Region, supporting the Network Legal Team. The lawyer will assist in developing and managing UnitedHealthcare’s provider network, negotiating major provider contracts, and supporting enterprise-wide initiatives related to provider networks, affordability, and product expansion.

Responsibilities

1. Provide legal support for Southeast Region network markets.
2. Collaborate with attorneys and legal professionals across the enterprise.
3. Serve as counsel to leadership on relationships with healthcare providers.
4. Draft and negotiate contracts with healthcare providers.
5. Manage dispute resolution, arbitration, and settlement drafting.
6. Develop industry knowledge and understanding of provider network operations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree
• Current license to practice law in the state of residence
• At least 5 years of legal experience
• Experience with regulatory agencies and state insurance regulations
• Knowledge of U.S., state contract, healthcare, and regulatory law
• Understanding of healthcare benefit coverage and medical policy development
• Strong legal evaluation and business problem-solving skills
• Excellent presentation, communication, and rapport-building skills
• Experience collaborating in a matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Managed care legal experience
• Understanding of health insurance and managed care industry

The salary range is $124,500 to $239,400 annually, based on full-time employment and various factors. Benefits include comprehensive packages, incentives, stock purchase, and 401k contributions. This role offers remote work flexibility within the U.S.
