This position supports the legal team and business leaders at UnitedHealthcare. The attorney will provide legal support for RFPs, bid protest litigation, and legal issues related to health plans.

You’ll have the flexibility to work remotely

  • from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on challenging projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • RFP Legal Support : Support the legal aspects of the RFP process for Medicaid contracts, review RFPs, identify legal issues, and collaborate with proposal and legal teams.
  • Bid Protest Litigation : Represent the company in bid protests, gather facts, review documents, and advise on legal issues, working closely with outside counsel.
  • Health Plan Support : Provide legal advice, review contracts, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations related to health plans.
  • Project Coordination / Management : Coordinate projects within the legal team and other departments, organize communications, and track progress.
  • Legal Research : Conduct legal research, prepare summaries, and stay updated on relevant laws and industry trends.
  • Team Collaboration : Work with attorneys and legal professionals, manage multiple projects, and support team success.

Required Qualifications

  • License to practice law in the U.S.
  • 4+ years of legal experience, including litigation or bid protests
  • Understanding of business problems and legal evaluation skills
  • Experience working in a large, matrixed environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take ownership of projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to support legal needs across multiple time zones, including Pacific time
  • Strong rapport-building skills with colleagues and external contacts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with regulatory agencies and insurance regulations
  • Legal experience in health, Medicaid, Medicare, or government bids
  • Ability to advise senior leadership
  • Knowledge of health insurance and managed care industry
  • Adherence to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy

The salary range is $106,800 to $194,200 annually, based on various factors. Benefits include comprehensive packages, incentives, stock purchase, and 401k. We are committed to diversity and equitable care.
