Overview

Celanese is hiring an attorney to support its global compliance program and litigation practice. The position is based out of Celanese’s headquarters in Las Colinas, Texas and provides an opportunity to join our tight-knit legal team. We’re looking for an experienced attorney with a long-term interest in growing with a respected and established public company.


This role will primarily be responsible for assisting in the program operations of Celanese’s world-class ethics and compliance program while also supporting our litigation docket. The attorney will be expected to manage and conduct internal investigations and advise on a wide range of topics including anti-bribery, conflicts of interest, human rights, trade and data privacy, and other general compliance topics.

The position has significant in-house client interaction across a broad range of personnel across Celanese.



Responsibilities


  • Plays a key role in day-to-day program operations of the global ethics and compliance program, providing coordination, organization, and support, and working closely with leadership to report on progress and assist with execution

  • Maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting use of the compliance hotline, heightened awareness of the Business Conduct Policy and provisions, and understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures

  • Assists in reviewing and updating policies and procedures for the general operation of the global compliance program and coordinates with key stakeholders across functions regarding functional policies and procedures

  • Investigates and manages alleged employee misconduct received via the ethics hotline and other channels in accordance with internal investigation protocols and guidance

  • Assists with quarterly reporting to keep the Audit Committee and senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts

  • Develops and conducts periodic training sessions on relevant topics

  • Assists with execution of Celanese programs to ensure compliance with anti-bribery/anti-corruption regulations

  • Manages, oversees, and assists with litigation, including working directly with outside counsel and in-house litigation counsel and clients to develop litigation strategy and supervise the implementation of that strategy

  • Strategizes on resolution of difficult legal compliance issues



Qualifications


  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree from an accredited university

  • 4-6 years of experience in practice of law and/or ethics and compliance roles, including internal investigations. A combination of top-tier law firm or government experience and in-house experience is preferred but not required.

  • Strong written, analytical, and oral communication skills

  • Detail and results-oriented, self-starter who can handle multiple tasks and many clients

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a dynamic workload

  • Strong sense of integrity

  • Outgoing personality, willing and eager to engage directly with business partners



Desired Skills/Knowledge/Abilities


  • Experience with internal investigations, corporate compliance topics, and/or corporate governance topics

  • Experience with conducting depositions, witness interviews, trials, arbitrations, etc., preferred

  • Ability to add value through creative approaches to problem solving

  • Strong interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy, and a high level of professionalism

  • Approachable, customer service-oriented attitude towards the practice of law

  • Strong interest and focus on project management and continuous process improvement

  • Preparation of effective, concise communications and presentations for executive-level use
