Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group is seeking an Associate General Counsel to lead contract negotiations and risk management for design and construction projects. You will negotiate complex design-build and EPC contracts and serve as trusted project counsel to teams.

You will assist with management of professional liability, builder's risk, and construction-specific insurance programs, and handle risk, licensing, and governance across architecture, engineering, and construction entities.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; bar admission in at least one state.
• Minimum 5+ years of legal experience in Architecture, Engineering & Construction firms.
• Experience drafting and negotiating design-build, EPC, and CM contracts.
• Knowledge of construction insurance and risk management.
• Willing to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate design, EPC, design-build, and CM contracts.
• Lead negotiations with Executive Team, Project Leadership, and Procurement.
• Maintain the contract template library.
• Advise on risk and delivery methodology for projects.
• Support business development through client engagement.
• Guide teams through project lifecycle and resolve disputes.
